Dr. Plawner graduated Rutgers College, New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1978. Four years later in 1982 he received his general dental degree from Northwestern University with Honors in Periodontics.
Dr. Plawner continually completes continuing education in many areas of dentistry including implants, orthodontics and gum treatments. He is certified in Zoom Whitening and Invisalign. He is a member of several professional organizations including:
Dr. Plawner has earned and been awarded the prestigious degree of Masters of Implantology by the American Dental Implant Association. Dr. Plawner has studied with and been mentored for over 200 hours by leading experts in the field of implants. "We can now extract a tooth, place an implant, and replace the lost tooth in a single visit!" states Dr. Plawner. "The surgery is minimally invasive, minimizing discomfort, the number of visits, time in the office, and cost! It's extremely gratifying to to provide these life-changing treatments and enhance peoples' lives. It makes all my effort worthwhile and reminds me why I chose dentistry as my profession for life."
Practicing in Elizabeth since 1986 he has become an asset in the community, contributing his professional services and time to Donated Dental Services of NJ as well as the Police Athletic League and AIDS Walk-A-Thon.
Dr. Plawner is a lifelong resident of New Jersey. Dr. Plawner and his wife Cindy have been married since 1983. They are very proud of their three children Jennifer, Jason and Amanda. And let us not forget Chester, the family's pet miniature poodle. His hobbies include tennis, swimming, biking and traveling.

At North Broad Family Dental we have always been sensitive to our patients that experience a phobia towards dental treatment.North Broad Family Dental has joined with Dr. Atlas, a board certified anesthesiologist, to bring general anesthesia to our office.
North Broad Family Dental's patients can now safely receive anesthesia, (sleep dentistry) for a wide range of dental procedures, without going to a hospital. Dr. Atlas is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
When Dr. Atlas is not at work, he is publishing articles and books or teaching other professionals. He has over 70 publications available.
Dr. Anerousis is a New Jersey native and grew up in Union, NJ. Dr. Anerousis attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biology.
Dr. Anerousis matriculated to New York University College of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University in 1991. She completed her General Practice Residency at Staten Island University Hospital in 1992.
With over 20 years of general dentistry experience, she performs all phases of general dentistry including endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. She has established herself as a skillful dentist with a warm bedside manner.
Dr. Anerousis has performed dentistry throughout Manhattan and New Jersey and now has returned to her roots in Union County. We are thrilled to have Dr. Marydee Anerousis join our team at North Broad Family Dental.
Dr. Maryam Abbasi is passionate about biological sciences as well as human sciences. She received her first Bachelor degree in Microbiology and her second Bachelor degree in Psychology with honors from San Jose State University, California. She then moved to Pennsylvania, where she received her doctorate degree in Dental Medicine from University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Abbasi lived and practiced dentistry in Pennsylvania for a few years before finally calling New Jersey her new home. She continually strives to be the best that she can be for her patients. Patients describe Dr. Abbasi as a dentist with heart, talent, and an exceptional chairside manner. She always takes the time to explain the procedures and answer her patients’ questions.
Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
A Houston native, Dr. Ann Liu studied at the University of Texas at Austin and earned her B.B.A. in management. Dr. Liu relocated to the Northeast to study at the renowned Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Liu then elected to continue her education in general dentistry at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. Dr. Liu focuses on providing the highest quality of care to all of her patients and studies all areas of dentistry. While there, she also trained and excelled in providing care for anxious and special needs patients. Dr. Liu has mastered the art of patient comfort in the dental chair.
Dr. Liu is fluent in Mandarin. In her spare time, Dr. Liu enjoys taking advanced dentistry courses and implementing the most modern dental techniques. Dr. Liu's hobbies include photography, cooking, and spending time with her niece and nephew as well as her dog Chibi.
